Mrs. Thomas Dies at Home at Pleasureville Oct 1940

Mrs. Mattie Corley Thomas, 83, widow of the late John C. Thomas. Died September 30, at her home in Pleasureville after an illness of several weeks

Mrs. Thomas was the youngest child of the late Col. William Berry and Elizabeth Magruder Corley and of Shelby County. She held the respect and love of a wide circle of friends and relatives, who at this hour are deeply saddened by her death. She had been a member of the Methodist Church since early childhood.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. I.G. Marksbury, PLeasureville and Mrs. Tilden H. Brown, Cropper and one son Raymond Thomas, Christiansburg.

Funeral Services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock by Rev G.W. Hoffman, assisted by Rev J.E. Johnson. Burial followed in the Pleasureville Cemetery.
