George Henton who married Persis (possibly Boone) is the common ancestor for both Mary and Marie. Some researchers have given George the middle initial "H" but this is a misread of his will, where the shaky "H" shown between George and Henton is identified clearly identified as his mark. I, like Mary Salisbury, descend from William Henton and Mary Jones and their son, Evan; William's sister, Hannah, married Josiah Boone in 1750 in Berks County, Pa. (there is considerable dispute about how many Hannah H's Josiah married, but I think the best case has been made for just one, Hannah Henton). Another son of George and Persis, Thomas Henton, married Ann Yarnall in Berks County ... and their daughter, Persis, married Josiah Boone and Hannah Henton's son, Josiah II, one of several first cousin marriages in the early Henton line. There's been a lot of misinformation and speculation about these early Hentons (and particularly the connection with the Boones) that might be straightened out if we all work on it, following the clues found by earlier researhers. One example -- A Woodford County, Kentucky, history identifies the Thomas Henton who married Christina Branner as my Evan Henton's brother when actually he was a first cousin. Evan's brother, Thomas, is the one who married Sarah Tallman and moved to Ohio. I have as children of Josiah Boone II and Persis Henton 1) Leah Bone, who married Christopher Karn Sr. and died in Daviess County, Ky., in 1836; 2) Hannah Boone, who married James Barnhill and died around 1826 in Daviess; 3) Ruth Boone, who married William Barnhill and died in 1864 in Oldham County, Ky.; 4) Persis Boone, who married Abner Stark in 1811 in Shelby County, Ky.; 5) Deborah Boone, who married George Teague/Tague Jan. 21, 1800, in Shelby County, Kentucky; and 6) Anna Y. Boone, who married Caleb Stark. Josiah Boone II had two children by his second wife, Eleanor (?) Adams -- 7) Tabitha, who married George W. Horseman and died May 8, 1881, and Charity, who married William McEwan.I am interested in finding descendants of all this marriages. I believe the most important word in genealogy is "Share."Thanks, all.

Just read this...July 27, 2009. The entire piece is full of many, many errors. There seems to be several Barnhill families mixed together. Ruth Boone was born at Ft. Boonesborough or at least Shelby Co when Ky was part of VA. She married in Shelby Co KY and never went to N.C. William Barnhill came to KY from NC with his parents Robert Barnhill and Rachel.Robert had land and was established by 1796. William Barnhill who married Ruth Boone was never in the War of 1812...different man, same name.
The genealogy in the Oldham Co Book is very wrong...which seems to be the source for much of this.
To Anoymous my information is correct. I have documents to back my work up. I do not do have fast genealogy. My work is correct. Kentucky became the 15th State in 1792. So Fort Boonesborough would have been part of Virginia. Now its not that families cannot move around.
People think families stayed in one place. Which is wrong. The Barnhill's still have family in North Carolina.
Robert Barnhill is William Barnhill son. I have the Will. also Ruth and William did married in Shelby County 1810. I have documents to back that up as well. Shelby became a County in 1796.
Also William Barnhill did very well serve in the 1812 War. That is a clear fact. It's among his papers. I have the documentation to back all my work up.
So re review the work. I have all my sources and I work closely with the families.
Sincerely
Jeannette K. Rook
