Medical Terms

Acute Nephrites- Any of various acute or chronic inflammations of the kidneys

Arteriosclerosis— fatty deposits on the inner lining of arteries (atherosclerosis), calcification of the wall of the arteries

Cerebral Hemorrhage- flow of blood from a ruptured blood vessels

Acute[Acid] Indigestion-Excessive secretion of hydrochloric acid by the stomach cells. Medically known as hyperchlorhydria. Sometimes used interchangeably with heartburn. See also:

Cancer of the Pancreas-Pancreatic cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancerous) cells form in the tissues of the pancreas. The pancreas is a gland located behind the stomach and in front of the spine. The pancreas produces digestive juices and hormones that regulate blood sugar. Cells called exocrine pancreas cells produce the digestive juices, while cells called endocrine pancreas cells produce the hormones. The majority of pancreatic cancers start in the exocrine cells.

Pulmonary Embolism-Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot in a vein located deep in the muscles of the legs, thighs, pelvis (lower torso), or arms. A pulmonary embolism occurs when a piece of a blood clot from a DVT breaks off and travels to an artery in the lung where it blocks the artery and damages the lung. The most common symptoms of a deep vein thrombosis are swelling and pain in the leg that has the blood clot. The most common symptoms of a pulmonary embolism are shortness of breath, chest pain, and a rapid heart rate. A DVT is difficult to diagnose without specific tests in which the deep vein system can be examined.

Pyogenic-Meningococcus: A type of bacteria now formally known as Neisseria meningitidis, which is responsible for a number of meningococcal diseases including epidemic bacterial meningitis, an inflammation of the coverings of the brain and spinal cord.

In technical terms, the meningococcus (Neisseria meningitidis) is a gram-negative nonmotile pyogenic coccus. The staining characteristics of bacteria provide an important classification system for the identification of bacteria. Bacteria are considered to be gram-negative if they have a red color by Gram's method of staining. (This is a primary characteristic of bacteria that have a cell wall composed of a thin layer of peptidoglycan covered by an outer membrane of lipoprotein and lipopolysaccharide containing endotoxin.) The term "nonmotile" means they do not move on their own. "Pyogenic" means they cause pus to form. And a "coccus" is a bacterium with a rounded or spherical shape, as opposed to one that is rod-shaped.

Senility-1. Originally, old age. 2. The physical decline associated with old age. 3. The mental decline once associated with old age but now known to be due to dementia, as for instance Alzheimer's disease and atherosclerosis.

Notes:
Hi Jeannette,
I don't have any pictures of any Davis people past my grandmother, Mae Davis's, generation. I wonder if the descendants of James H. Davis (who owned the funeral home in Owensboro) have any. At one time I was corresponding with Drew Davis & Susan Boyle (daughter-in-law of Opal Juanita Davis Boyle who was the daughter of James H. Davis, Sr.) Susan Boyle said she had some pictures but I've never heard back from her since 2003. Evidently Drew Davis (grandson of James H. Davis, Sr.) & Juanita Davis(who died in 2001) worked on the genealogy some. Have you ever contacted them? I know Drew Davis had some queries on Ancestry. I could try to contact them again to see if they have found any pictures if you'd like...no guarantees though.
