Spear
The Funeral of George P. Spear
was held this afternoon in the North Amherst Church. Edwin M. Stanton post, G.A.R., attended in a
body. REV. B. F. Gustin offered prayer
in the house and conducted the introductory service, after which Com. O.W.
Prouty and Chaplain D. H. Bartlett of the post took charge, using the Grand
Army Ritural. The bearers were the
following members of Mason W. Tyler camps, Sons of Veterans: Francis E Farrar, Darwin E. Own, Clarence
Wood and Dwight E. Owen, Clarence Wood and Dwight H. Slate. Burial was in the
North Amherst Cemetery.

OLDEST MEMBER OF THE NORTH CONGREGATION CHURCH FUNERAL TUESDAY.
AMHERST, May 22, --Mrs.
Pamelia Ann Mayo Spear died last night at her home in North Amherst, after a
long illness. She was the widow of
George Porter Spear. Mrs. Spear was born
in Wellfleet on February 1, 1844 the daughter of Capt. Noah and Jeannette Mayo
Spear. She came with her parents to
North Amherst when a girl of 14 years., and had lived there since. In 1867 She married Mr. Spear. She was the oldest member of the North
Congregational Church, having joined in 1865.
Three Children survive, Henry
A. Spear of Amherst, Miss Harriet Spear, a teacher in New York City, and Mabel
G., School nurse in Amherst. There are three grandchildren of a son who
died some time ago, and one child of the son, ?. The funeral Will be held at the home on
Tuesday afternoon at 3. The service will
be conducted jointly by Rev Byron F. Gustin Former Pastor of the North Church,
and Rev C. Seymore present Pastor Burial Will be in the North Cemetery.

1867, and was the son of George Porter Spear and Camelia Ann [Mayo] Spear. He was married June 19, 1895, to Miss Edith
M. Brown of North Amherst by the late Rev William Gaylord, Mr. Spear was a
member of the North Congregation Church and was a retired electrician, retiring
in 1920. He leaves besides his widow one
son Russell Mayo Spear of Madison. N.C.; three grandchildren, one sister, Mrs.
B.F. Dustin of North Amherst, and three nieces.
The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at the Albert H.
Douglas Funeral home. REV Theodore T.
Dixon, pastor of the North Congregational church, and Rev B. F. Dustin will
officiate. Burial Will be in the North

Boulevard was found dead in his room by Mrs. A.D. Conover yesterday noon,
Medical Examiner Frederick John Viewed the body and said that death was due to
heart failure.
Mr. Spear had suffered as the
result of heart trouble for several years and was at the time of, his death
under the care of a doctor. He is
survived by his mother, Mrs. J. Spear of Amherst; two sisters, Harriet of New
York and Mabel Amherst; a brother, Henry of Amherst, and three daughters, Ethel
of Detroit and Irma and Marion of 19 Montrose street. The funeral will be held at Washburn’s chapel
at a time to be announced.

AMHERST—MAY 5, --Miss Harriett Elizabeth Spear, 51, died this morning
at her home at North Amherst following a brief illness after an
operation. For more then 20 years she
had been a teacher at Staten Island, N.Y., and previous to that time in the
Northampton Schools. Miss Spear
graduated from the Amherst High School and the Westfield Normal. She was born
December 10, 1877, at Amherst, the daughter of George Porter and Pamelia Ann
[Mayo] Spear. Surviving are one
sister,. Miss Mabel G. Spear, Amherst
School nurse, and a brother, Henry A. Spear of North Amherst; an aunt, Mrs.
Sarah Conant of Gardner; three nieces, Ethel Spear of New York and Erma and
Marion Spear of Springfield, and a nephew, Russell Mayo Spear of Chicago. Miss spear was a member of North
Congregational Church.
