According to my information, John Staples was born December 20, 1773 (not 1775). I believe he was a magistrate of Albemarle County From 1802 to 1806.
There gaps in my data, but Thomas Staples (1747 -1805) had a younger brother named William. He had a sister named Prudence who was born in 1760, so it is possible that your William Staples is Thomas Staples's brother, but I do not have birth and death dates for William.
