Harry Allan George

Funeral Services for Harry Allan George 48, who died suddenly Friday, will be held at his home, 60 Laurel Street, Melrose, this afternoon at 3 O’clock.  Born in Amherst, N.S., Mr. George, graduated from Harvard with the class of 1900 and was graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1902. He was construction Engineer for Boston University at the time of his death.



More than 20 years ago he was married to Miss Demetria Simmons of Newton Centre, who survives him along with a daughter.  Mary Elizabeth George, & son, Harry Allan George Jr., and two sisters, Mrs. William W. Chace of Providence, R.I. and Mrs. Herbert L. Waterman of Framingham.

He was a member of the Wyoming Lodge Masons.

Mrs. George’s Rites In Newton Today
Funeral Services for Mrs. Demetria Simmons George former head of the Boston University Information Service, will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Newtown Center Methodist Church.  She died Wednesday at her home in Newton Centre.
Mrs. George was the first director of the University’s information service, which answers inquiries about education, personnel and activities of the institution.
A Graduate of Boston University, she had been a teacher of Greek and Latin in Ware before joining the B.U. Staff.  She leaves a son, Harry A. George. And a daughter, Mrs. Alden Speare.  She was the widow of Harry A. George.

    SPEARE. Elizabeth (George) Speare, 85, of Tucson, Ariz., and formerly of Easton, died Monday (Nov. 14) in Tucson, Ariz. Mrs. Speare was a well-known author of historical novels for children, and was a Wethersfield resident for 20 years. She was a member of the Easton Congregational Church, and was a founder of the Friends of the Easton Library Association. Survivors include her husband, Alden Speare; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Carey of Shaker Heights, Ohio; and five grandchildren. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service Monday, Nov. 21, 11 a.m., in the Easton Congregational Church. Burial will be private in Union Cemetery, Easton. It has been requested that prior calling hours be omitted, and if desired, contributions may be made to the Save the Children Federation, 54 Wilton Road, Westport 06880. The Spear Funeral Home, 39 S. Benton Road, Fairfield, has charge of arrangements.
