Eighteen months later, on January 28, 1828, Sarah Lincoln
Grigsby died in childbirth. Sarah Lincoln Grigsby, sister of
the 16th President, was buried with her infant in her arms.
Interviews with southern Indiana neighbors after the president's death
indicated that Lincoln may have blamed his sister's death on her husband's
neglect.
