C.M. Robinson Dies of Heart Attack

Following as slight illness, Cassius Montgomery Robinson died at his home some time either Saturday evening or Early Sunday morning.  He lived in a small house near his son, Ray Robinson and when Mr. Robinson called at the house to see his father Sunday morning, he found he had passed away from a heart attack. Mr. Robinson was a native of Ohio, but had been a resident of Anacortes for the past 40 years. He was carpenter by trade, until his health necessitated a cessation of that work.

He is survived by two daughters Mrs. C.B. Lancaster of Rose City, Oregon and Miss Edna Robinson of Portland, Oregon; two sons, Don Robinson of Oakland, California, and Ray R. Robinson of this City. Also two brothers, one in Kansas and one in Idaho.

Funeral Services held from the Haughen Chapel Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 O’clock with Rev. J.C. Reed of the Presbyterian Church Officiating

Ray R. Robinson

Ray R. Robinson 84, a resident of 608 H. Avenue, Anacortes, died April 14, 1972, at home:

He was born in Coldwater, [Comanche], Kansas, USA, June 26, 1887. The family moved to Anacortes when Ray was six months old.  He continued to make his home here attending Anacortes Schools.

In 1916 he built the Salina Cannery [later known as the Sebastian-Stewart Cannery], and established the first floating Cannery in Alaska, utilizing the sailing Ship to Azalea.

Robinson is well known on the Anacortes water front. He started the Robinson Marina which he operated until his retirement in 1947. 

Robinson was married to Edith Whitmore, . August 12, 1912.

Survivors besides his wife at the family home, include two sons, Raymond R. JR. , and Ralph R. both of Anacortes; one brother, Donald, of Anacortes; two sisters, Edna Drake of Portland, Oregon, and Harriett Lancaster of Watsonville, California.  He also leaves grandchildren.

Memorial Services were held Tuesday, April 18, at Evans Funeral Chapel REV J. Robert Evans Officiating.  Interment followed at Grandview Cemetery.  Arrangements were under direction of Evans Funeral Chapel.

Donald V. Robinson

Donald V. Robinson, 77, died at the Island Hospital Tuesday, May 7, 1974.

Mr. Robinson was born in Anacortes, November30, 1896 and received his education at the Rosario School. He worked for the Continental Can Company for many years and was in the food processing business in Alaska as well as the fruit business in Eastern Washington.

Mr. Robinson was a member of Grandview Lodge No. 191 F&AM, Sunset Chapter No. 137 OES, both of Grandview, Washington.

Survivors include his wife Jeanne, of Anacortes;  one sister, Mrs.  Harriet Lancaster of San Carlos, California and three nephews.

The family suggest memorials be made to a favorite Charity.

At.  Mr. Robinson’s request private cremation was held.

Arrangements were under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
