Barnhill Data
By Frank Clinton Barnhill Marshall County Missouri For Mrs. Emma Dunn MAstin, Owensboro, KY

ROBERT BARNHILL [WIFE RACHEL] of Orange County, North Carolina, acquired lain Rutherford N.C. by grant dated Jan 20, 1796. He probably never lived on the land, because the land was sold by deed dated Aug 12. 1797, executed by “Robert Barnhill of Shelby County, Kentucky” to Samuel Carter for 70 pounds.

This proves that our Robert Barnhill and wife Rachel, with their family of five boys and one girl, had removed to Shelby County, Ky. Prior to August 12, 1797.

[787] Robt. Barnhill, Sr., named in his will dtd. 22jul1818, prob. Feb 1819, in Henry Co., KY, WB 2, pp. 273-274, the following children: James, William, Robert [jr.] Mary Ann, and Joseph. He bequeath to son Joseph "this land whereon I now live containing 150 acres..." By some coincidence I drove to this farm today and to the Barnhill family cemetery located thereon. Sadly, it has been pretty badly desecrated, with virtually all stones scattered about the ground. Some that were identifiable were William and his wife America; Joseph and his wife Rebecca
[Hopkins].

The plot is some 70 X 120', and we probable would assume Robt., Sr. and his wife are buried there in unmarked

grave. The cemetery is on the back portion of the Clarke Pointe Subdivision [$200,000+ homes] on the west side of KY Hwy. 53, about half way between LaGrange and Ballardsville, KY, in

Oldham Co. Our interest in this family is that the above Jos. and Rebecca are my wifes 3rd. grt/ gr. parents. Will be glad to share.
