Actress Mildred Gregory [1895-1956]

Mildred Lehman Gregory was born on February 19, 1895 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania to German Immigrants parents William W.  and Freda [nee' Scheile] Gregory. She became an actress for the  Lubin Studios in 1913 as their leading lady  and then went to New Gaumont Mutaul in 1916 Miss Gregory is famed where motion pictures are shown as a player of parts requiring youthful impetuosity  and feminine fire.  In adventures and screen parts to bring her talent and versatility. She played Roles in According to the Law [1916], Bond Women and the Climbers  [1915], The Battle of Shiloh  [1913], In the Hour of Disaster (1916) and The Millinery Man (1915). Home Sweet Home 1926

Mildred   married Lawrence Palmer Brown  at  at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Manix, 516 Linden Drive, Beverly Hills in 1926. Mr. Brown died in 1949, of Pneumonia.  Her in-laws where the infamous J.J. Brown who died in 1922,  was one of Colorado most widely known mining figures  and    His wife shared equal billing in Colorado when she survived the sinking of the Titanic [RMS April 15, 1912]9  Mrs Margaret Brown, she died in 1932.

Her acting career stalled in the mid 1930's she moved  to Denver Colorado in 1940 with her husband.  For the rest of her life she participated in Charitable Cause that her former mother-in-law was involved with.  She  and Lawrence had no Children.  However, she did have wonderful relationship with her Step Children Lawrence Palmer Brown Jr. and Elizabeth "Betty" Brown AKA SISTER MARY LAETITIA   Dominican Covenant at San Rafael, Calif

On October 18, 1956 Mildred passed away at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Denver Colorado, and on October 19, 1956 her funeral was held Ascension Episcopal Church following a burial in the Fairmount Cemetery in Denver Colorado.

RITES HELD FOR KIN OF FAMED MINING FIGURE





Funeral Services for Mrs. Mildred G. Brown1, daughter-in-Law of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Brown2, historic Colorado couple, were held Friday in Ascension Episcopal Church3.  Burial was in Fairmount4.




Mrs. Brown died Thursday5 in St. Joseph Hospital 6 after a long illness she was 617.



J.J. Brown [James Joseph] was one of the state’s most widely known mining figures8.  His wife shared equal billing in Colorado when she survived the sinking of the Titanic [RMS April 15, 1912]9.  She later became known “The Unsinkable Mrs. Brown.”



Born February 19, 1895, in Philadelphia, PA10, Mrs. Mildred Brown lived in Los Angeles and La Jolla, Calif.11, before moving to Denver 15 years ago.  At one time she was an actress12.



Before coming to Colorado, she married to Lawrence P. Brown13, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Brown.



J.J. Brown emerged as one of Colorado’s richest and most legendary figures after he located the “Little Johnny” Mine in the mountain near Leadville14.  The mine became one of the greatest produces of gold in Colorado history and J.J. Brown went on to gain, some $20 million from his bonanza.



His son, Lawrence, continued to be manage mining interests in and around Leadville, including that in the Ibex Mining Co. after his parents’ death.  Lawrence died here several years ago15.



Surviving her is L.P. [Lawrence Palmer Brown Jr.] Brown Jr., a stepson, Saratoga, Calif. 16

The marriage of Miss Mildred Lehman Gregory, film actress, and Lawrence Palmer Brown, engineering contractor, who also is associated with the motion picture industry, will take place tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Manix, 516 Linden Drive, Beverly Hills.

Miss Gregory starred several years ago with Gaumont and Lubin, and recently resumed her film career in Hollywood, Mr. Brown, it is understood, has lately become in interested in the production of motion pictures.

Denver, Colo., September. 6-James Joseph Brown, 68, Pioneer mining man of Colorado and one of the four original owners of the Ibex, or Little Johnny Gold Mine at Leadville, Colo., died at Hempstead, N.Y., according to telegraphic advices.
