Joseph Solis, 80, of Middletown, died
yesterday at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. He was deputy commissioner of the Civil
Defense Department for the City of New York for 19 years, retiring in 1982. He was an Army veteran of World War II and
the Korean War. He was 20-year veteran
of the82nd Airborne, retiring in 1961.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2179, Port Monmouth,
Middletown Seniors, Croyden Hall, and the Keansburg Senior Citizens. Born in New York, he lived in Middletown for
the past 30 years.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Hilda Lampel Solis; two
daughters Faith Moutal of Lakehurst and Carol Ann Pressnell of Elizabeth City,
N.C.; two granddaughters, Michele Moutal and Sarah Pressnell; and a grandson,
Richard Pressnell.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday at John F. Plfleger
Funeral 115 Tindall Road, Middletown, with a 10 a.m. service. Interment will follow in Fair View Cemetery
